ABG In-Person Trainings in Asheville, Austin, and Beyond

We are so honored to offer trainings in a variety of ways, including hybrid programs which bring folks together IRL. Before ABG Postpartum Doula Training was offered as a virtual, on-demand training, we offered it only in-person, so in many ways, this feels like the foundation of our work. It’s something we are really proud of! Moving into 2025, we have two in-person trainings scheduled and more to come.
Benefits of In-Person Doula Training

There are so many things we love about being together in person and learning in community! These are a few highlights:
Peers can share skills with one another. Each person comes to our training with different life experience and knowledge. We value learning together, and so often, folks gleam big takeaways from their peers in training, not just from the trainer. Students can share concerns or fears they have and get real-time processing, care, and skill-building to support them in gaining confidence.
Folks can network with one another. If folks are training in the same city they work in, they also have the added benefit of networking with local folks from the get-go. If people are not local, it’s still meaningful and valuable to know other folks doing similar work in other places. As we’ve discussed, connections are a crucial part of birth work, and we love that people can begin their journey with a handful of trusted colleagues.
Some skills may be easier for some learners to grasp in person. For example, CPR and swaddling are two postpartum doula skills that may be easier to pick up in person. Plus, each person has unique learning preferences and needs, and we are glad to offer an in-person option.
The environment is relaxed and friendly. ABG creates a laid-back, yet focused, learning environment. We usually meet in living rooms or other cozy spaces, and students are welcome to bring whatever makes them comfortable for our time together!
Training time is condensed. In-person trainings often happen over the course of 2 full days. This can be a good way to knock out a ton of learning all at once! Students will leave the training ready to work as a trained doula.
Certification is completed online. While the core training happens IRL, our certification program is hybrid, and folks will complete their certification requirements through our online portal.
2025 Training Offerings
In March, we will be training in Austin, Texas. We will be gathering in Asheville, North Carolina and Richmond, Virginia in May. Check links for details!
Additionally, ABG is always open to training requests in other cities, so please reach out if you’d like to help organize a training near you. We will travel to you!
Hope to See You Soon!
We’d be honored to see you in training soon, whether it’s in Asheville, Austin, somewhere else, or online! If blocking out 2 days and/or traveling doesn’t work for your schedule but you are set on becoming a postpartum doula, our on-demand training is for you. See you in class soon!
